"Destined for solitude. I cry out for change, yet always forgetting I set this motion in place. Returning to my old home, caressing the frames to ignite nostalgic flames. I walk near the riverbed as I dig into my skin. Carving as I hear the water flowing. The beauty in which this earth brings, casted under our selfish, and dire needs. I dip my toes into the water. Physically, I still feel. I wrap myself in further decay. In this riverbed I will forever lay. I've longed for this my entire life. This relief. This release. My blood spills upon the wet rocks and damp grass. A sliver of life remains and my body grows cold. This shiver, the last of my days. Destined for solitude, the final masquerade. This shiver, the last of my days."

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
Joseph Hawker subverts the musical and sociopolitical status quo with a black metal triptych that's as incendiary as it is impressionistic. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 5, 2022
